Sacred Feminine Workshop with Reva
Jun 7 @ 10:00 am – 5:00 pm

The Sacred Feminine

Sunday 7th June   10 am – 5 pm

This day for women offers a rare gift to share deeply with other women. We will explore the different phases of woman; maiden, mother and crone and our innate connection to the Goddess. As we disentangle ourselves from the social, cultural and religious expectations and assumptions that no longer serve us, we can step more fully into our authentic being. We will bring a deeper understanding to the menstrual or moon cycle, giving us the wisdom to navigate through our internal seasons consciously. Through simple yet profound practices we will awaken and reconnect to our womb space; the womb being our innate source of wisdom and power, the sacred vessel of creativity and life.

The day will include asana, chanting, mantra and yoga nidra (deep relaxation).

(This retreat is suitable for all women including those who have had a hysterectomy or who are post-menopausal).

Please bring own lunch, drinks and biscuits provided.

Cost: £50 and please contact rebecca@theriverroom.org.uk to book a place

Feedback from previous courses:

Wonderful space, safely held by Reva, allowing a group of women of all ages to explore their womb space and journey of womanhood in the spirit of honest sharing. The sisterhood of this group felt compassionate and supportive,’ Neelakash

It was so beautiful and intimate. It felt like coming home. I felt nourished by my sisters. I feel closer to Ma and am more confident that I am on the right path.’ Tea

“Mindful Yoga, Meditation, Chi Gong & Shiatsu – Slow Down Saturday” with Zoë Pirie

Sat. 18th April and 13th June from 10am-1.30pm & 7th November, 11am-2.30pm; each workshop £35 including tasty treats 🙂

The Saturday workshops offer a great opportunity to practice Mindful Yoga, Meditation, simple breathing and relaxation techniques, Chi Gong (like Tai Chi, often done in parks in China and Japan) and self-Shiatsu, learning how to treat key acupressure points for health and happiness. There’s time for movement and stilness; chatting and silence; taking notes and trying new things out in a fun and friendly atmosphere.

Mats, bolsters and blankets etc. are provided so you don’t need to bring equipment unless you wish to. The yoga session includes a range of poses and movements including restorative yoga poses where we can be still for longer than usual, supported by various props to feel blissfully relaxed. We will also hold and deepen stretches to release tension in muscles and fascia (connective tissue) significantly releasing tightness and pain, leaving us refreshed and re-energised. The flowing Chi Gong movements can be done in standing or sitting and you may sit or lie down to enjoy the calming meditations. Breath and move at your own pace, doing as much or as little as you wish all day.

So, join in the fun to stretch out, tone up and slow down. All ages, abilities and spiritual beliefs welcome – no experience necessary. Limited places so please book soon.

Using Yoga to Build Resilience – A Day with Mukti Mai
Sep 12 @ 9:30 am – 4:30 pm

Using yoga to build resilience: A Day with Mukti Mani

Life brings many challenges whether its in the form of demands at work, juggling at home or striving to meet our personal goals and aspirations. In recent years research has exploded around the idea of resilience. What means some people bounce back from challenges and thrive in uncertain or tough times – when others seem to find it harder to do this? The good news is research around neuroplasticity suggests this is something we can learn and develop – so join us for a day of exploration.
In this workshop there will be time to find out what resilience means, how we as individuals work with life challenges as well as learning simple tools and techniques to apply to daily life. The workshop will involve breath work, deep relaxation, gentle accessible movement practice, pair work and reflection. Participants will leave with their own personalised resilience plan.
The workshop is suitable for a range of bodies and different levels of experience – please contact me to discuss any specific concerns. 10% of profits after costs will be given to The Natural Resilience Project (https://www.naturalresilienceproject.com/). Previous participants have included those that work in public sector roles including therapists and nurses, those with caring responsibilities, yoga teachers and someone expecting her first child.
Katy Bergson (Mukti Mani) has been teaching yoga for 8 years and works within the NHS as an Occupational Therapist. She was a resident teacher at Mandala Yoga Ashram in 2018-2019. She feels passionately about exploring individual’s stories and using yoga as a tool to empower individuals within their lives. She writes regularly on her blog http://rohayoga.wordpress.com
