Deciding whether or not to enrol on a 10 month Yoga Foundation Course might not be so easy, especially during these times when we’re not sure whether we’re coming or going. Maybe the Course sounds interesting but you’re still not quite sure what to expect? Maybe you’re uncertain about whether you’re up for it. How will a full day be structured? Will there be breaks? Will there be lots of physical practice? How hard will it be? Is there homework? Will you have to write essays? What’s the course tutor like? What might the other people interested in the course be like? These are all questions worth asking before you make your mind up.
This Introductory Day will be a perfect chance to explore these questions and any others that come up. It will be a chance to meet me (if you haven’t already) and to have time to chat to others and share expectations. Hopefully by the end of the day, you’ll end up with a really clear sense of what the Course will involve and whether you’re interested.
It may be that you come along and feel that the Course isn’t right for you and that’s absolutely fine. There’s no pressure at all to register just because you’ve come to the Introductory Day. Likewise, there’s no obligation to come to the Introductory Day in order to register for the Course.
The Day will be set up to provide a taster of what a Course day will be like. We’ll breathe and move our bodies in some physical yoga for sure – and this doesn’t mean you have to be able to stand on your head or do the splits. The physical yoga is taught and shared in a way to be inclusive of different bodies and levels of experience. You’ll get to find out more about the Syllabus. We can discuss where to source equipment and books for those who are interested (although buying books is not compulsory for the course). And there’ll be lots of time to meet each other and chat. We’ll have a deliciously relaxing Yoga Nidra to finish off with. There’ll also be time, during the lunch break or at the end of the day, to have individual ‘interviews’ or to arrange a later date for these (please let me know if you’d like to pre-arrange one of these).
Obviously it would be so lovely to meet at the River Room, share lunch, walk along the river, but as we all know these days, there’s also a lot we can do on Zoom.
Booking for this Day is essential and once you’ve booked a place via https://bookwhen.com/rebeccayoga you will be sent the Zoom link (this is a different link to that used for my other classes and workshops).
10 – 12.30 Morning Session (+tea break)
12.30 – 2pm Lunch Break
2 – 4.30pm Afternoon Session (+tea break)
Foundation Course Costs:
Thanks for your enquiries so far and I’m so sorry I didn’t make the Course Costs clear in the first mail out – the vital information was lost in the flurry of advertising!
Course fees will be £600. There is a non-refundable deposit of £100 payable on acceptance to the course. You then have the option of paying the rest as a £500 lump sum or as monthly payments of £50. There’s an additional BWY registration fee of £60 (which you make to me and I send it over to the BWY) and you need to become members of the BWY (£37), something you sort out with them via their website.
I very much hope you’ll join me on Sunday 13th December and we’ll have a lovely day full of fun!

Please join me for this year’s Candlelit Heart Opening Yoga Workshop on Sunday 20th December 2 – 7pm via Zoom only.
Christmas is a good excuse to open our hearts and spread as well as receive love and compassion. And as I begin preparing for this workshop, I know I want to fill it with more love, more nourishment and more gratitude than ever before. Right now, we surely need an excess of these qualities in our lives in such a way that they spill over for everyone we come into contact with. We might not be able to hug everyone or see everyone we’d like to, but by tuning in through Yoga, Meditation & Relaxation to the deep loving resonance of the heart space –Hridayākāsha in Sanskrit – we might just feel more tenderness and connection with people close by and far away.
We’ll begin with a heart-centred, tender flow and after a break, melt into a heart-opening Yin practice, ending with a Yoga Nidra (relaxation). If we were in the River Room, we’d be bathed in candlelight and we’d share zesty, spicy snacks. Why don’t we all re-create the same thing in our homes? Candles, hot water bottles, something delicious and warming to eat and drink during the break? We could share recipes. Once you’ve Booked (via Bookwhen only), I’ll send you recipes for the nourishing Energy Balls I make every year plus a Music Playlist to flow and melt to.
This workshop will be for everyone – although if you have any condition that may affect your yoga practice, please let me know so I can recommend any adaptations.
One good thing about Zoom is that more people can come to this workshop, which every year so far (and this will be the fifth year running), has ended up with a waiting list and some disappointment. If you’ve come before, I hope you’ll come again and if you’ve never experienced the workshop, I hope you’ll try it out for the first time. Maybe you’d like to give the workshop as a gift to a friend? You could invite members of your family to join in for the whole workshop or to drop-in to parts of it.
Hope to see you there!
*** If you have committed to at least 6 classes of early morning yoga during the last block, you already know that your place for this workshop is FREE.
Please join us on Christmas Eve from 3.30 – 5.30 pm, from the comfort of your homes, for a session of soothing Yin-Restorative Yoga with Rebecca followed by a spacious Yoga Nidra with Will. Together, we have designed the combination of Asana (physical postures) & Meditation to allow you into deep relaxation right in the midst of the Christmas revelries. The experience should leave you rested and refreshed, ready for the evening and few days to come.
This is an event for all the family – your partner, kids, cats and dogs might all like to join in. And why not create a lovely space for the event – candles, warmth, blankets, cushions – everything to get you really cosy and able to settle into deep rest.
Booking is via BOOKWHEN and once you’ve booked you’ll receive a Zoom link and password specific to this event.
We very much look forward to seeing you there.

Do you love your regular Yoga class and want to go a bit deeper into your understanding and personal practice of Yoga? If so, this immersive, 60-hour Foundation Course could be ideal for you. The Course provides a thorough grounding in physical postures (asana), breath work (pranayama) mudra (seals), mantra (sound), meditation and relaxation, all within the fascinating history and philosophy of the Yogic Tradition.
The course is structured to allow lots of time to share personal experiences within the group and to discuss and question the different approaches to Yoga that will arise on the course. It is a great interactive experience as well as being an opportunity for personal development.
Some people choose to take the Foundation Course to delve deeper into a topic they love and to enrich their own personal practice. The Course can also be – but doesn’t have to be – a perfect stepping-stone towards becoming a Certified Yoga Teacher e.g. (by taking the British Wheel of Yoga Diploma in Teaching).
The Foundation Course will run for 10 months beginning on Sunday 31st January and ending on Sunday 14th November (with no meeting in August). Each meeting will be on a Sunday from 9.30am-5pm and will include lunch and tea breaks.
You are welcome to attend an Introductory Day to the Foundation Course on Sunday 13 December, 10.00am – 4.30pm to find out more before committing. The date for this will be announced shortly.
Course fees are £600. There is a non-refundable deposit of £100 payable on acceptance to the course. You then have the option of paying the remaining £500 as a lump sum or by monthly instalments of £50. There is an additional BWY registration fee of £60 paid via the course tutor to the BWY and students need to become members of the BWY (cost £37). Membership must be via BWY Central Office or website.
