Nia Dance Movement workshop – Saturday 6th November 11am-1pm
Discover the Nia Technique, a life-affirming dance movement practice where we tune into the wisdom of the body, find joy in expressive, flowing movements using inspiring music from around the world, and condition the whole body, increasing our range of movement in a sustainable and enjoyable way.
We dance barefoot (optional) and the practice is adaptable to individual needs and abilities. Nia is a nourishing embodied practice of self-care, offering the opportunity to connect with a true sense of wellbeing and with your full potential in life. We focus on how the movement feels rather than how it looks and you will be encouraged to discover how to move the move so that it feels great for your body!
In the workshop we will explore all that Nia has to offer. You will take away insights that will help you to connect to joy in movement in daily life and, whilst it it not a pre-requirement for starting classes, this workshop is also a solid introduction to Nia for those wishing to begin a regular practice either online or in-person.
The workshop will be a mix of; sensory exploration through movement, sharing of principles and practice, the Nia philosophy, an introduction to some of the Nia movement patterns and some slower-paced choreography taken from Nia routines used in weekly classes.
