Saturdays

  • Entrance/exit for classes is now either via metal steps up the river side of the Mill, or the stone steps at the end. 
  • It is now ok to use River Room equipment but please tidy away at the end of a class.
  • Please wash/sanitise your hands on entering the Mill and wear masks in communal areas, unless you are exempt. Note we are changing the sanitiser to a less sticky version to encourage you to use it! 
  • Good ventilation is important, so please keep doors and windows open if possible.
  • The showers will reopen (on advice from the City Council)
  • Social distancing in the River Room will depend on the decision of each Tutor.
  • There is likely to be more pressure on parking, so do travel by foot/bicycle/public transport if possible and only park in the Mill spaces (not the Lancaster Cohousing spaces). If no spaces are available park on Forge Lane opposite. 
  • Don’t come into the Mill if you are feeling unwell, have had a positive Covid test or have been in close contact with someone who has had a positive test.

The River Room is a dedicated space to provide retreat from the noise, stress and demands of daily life. The room is spacious, light and situated on the banks of the stunning River Lune. One empty open-plan room (100 square meters)is perfect for group activities such as yoga, meditation, mindfulness, qigong, tai chi, breath-movement awareness, therapeutic dance, reading groups and more. The room can easily accommodate 30 mats and a teacher. Adjacent to The River Room is The Periscope Space, a small, beautifully lit, square area with chairs and a rug. The Periscope Space is ideal for smaller one-to-one sessions such as coaching, counseling, therapy, massage, acupuncture, shiatsu etc. (can easily fit a mobile therapy couch).  Both areas are well heated, simply decorated and have bamboo flooring. The River Room has just had a fresh lick of paint so is looking particularly bright and cheerful. Thanks especially  Dawn Keyes for donating the bamboo floor and the eco-paint. Yoga and meditation equipment are provided by Will and Rebecca. Special thanks to Larry Wright for helping lay the floor and to everyone who helped paint the room the first and the second time. The River Room and The Periscope Space are on the first floor of Halton Mill, a vibrant, environmentally friendly and ethical business hub. We are very excited about the number of spaces for contemplative mind-body practices now available at Halton Mill. Check out Halton Mill website for information on additional spaces. Access to the River Room can be up a set of steps but we are also so happy that a lift has now been installed which is fantastic and long awaited.
